Lucy Morrison

Yorkshire born Lucy Fiona Morrison has established a reputation across the UK, as a painter renowned for capturing the character and essence of the land.

Driven by a desire to remind viewers of the beauty of the landscape and inspired by the diverse vistas of Yorkshire, Morrison is compelled to translate the breadth of colours, shapes and forms onto canvas. Morrison’s gestural oil paintings are composed of expressive colours and richly textured brushwork, offering abstract representations of the British Isles.

Studio experience

I want to engage any studio visitors with my painting process from beginning to end. I intend to do this by being personable and open ready for discussion.

To inspire conversation, I will be actively painting a large-scale canvas with oils over the two weekends. With experience both in undertaking live demonstrations of painting techniques as part of the Art Pavilionat The Great Yorkshire Show, and with experience of giving personal tuition, I am a confident communicator and love to inspire a love of painting in people. During the ongoing demonstration I will discuss all elements of oil painting, from material choices and pigment making, to painting tools and techniques.

Alongside the live painting, I will be displaying both finished and work-in-progress canvases, and my planning sketchbooks to show my full creative process.

The Open Studio event will be the perfect opportunity for visitors to get a genuine and friendly insight into the creative process whilst also allowing me to foster genuine feedback from a fresh audience.
