Anne Thornhill

Anne Thornhill 6

Anne has been painting professionally since graduating in 1974. Her work reflects her interest in perceptual shifts between subject areas and between representation and abstraction. She uses a linear framework to pull the viewer into the picture space and to provide changing options for a visual journey. A sense of place remains important and this is achieved by drawing and observation on site.

Studio experience

The studio is in a old barn with stunning views of the Esk valley. There are great views all the way to the Studio from Aislaby. The road on to Egton/ Egton Bridge has even better views and four pubs to choose from. There is a large garden at the studio which visitors may look round.
