Sarah's work is drawn from the vast, wild space surrounding her studio - it is full of rhythm, line and form. Her work is a dialogue with the stone, leaving the marks of nature and revealing its origin and beauty.
Old School House, Newby, Clapham LA2 8HR

From the A65 driving towards Ingleton/Kirby Lonesdale at the Goat Gap Cafe take the right turn signposted Newby. The Old School House is located on the left hand side at the far end of the village green.
Road side parking - please park with consideration - it is also possible to walk from Newby Cote Farm/studio 22/23 - a 10 min picturesque walk down a small lane.
Steps into the house and within the garden
There will be a sculptural installation that is part of Sarah's Grants for the Arts Award, which originally showed in the YDNP Museum in Hawes in October 2016. This is in collaboration with a sound engineer/artist and a lighting artist. There will also be a film showing of how the work came about, the collaboration and the ideas behind the work.
Annie Farrer who will be sharing the space, works on velum and part of Sarah's work is using skin and bones so their work together will be complimentary.
Jeweller, Jill James will also be sharing Sarah Smith's studio and house space.
Please note the Goat Gap Cafe serves excellent coffee and food through out the day and has good parking.
