Russell makes acrylic narrative paintings and drypoint portraits, inspired by landscape and life study. The paintings develop through abstract editing to representational imagery whilst etched life portraits become literary characters.

Joby Cottage, its garden, gallery and studio is an interesting and enjoyable experience as a village destination, and the studio contains all of the elements, materials and equipment required to make acrylic and oil paintings.
Whilst meaningful demonstration is not really possible, given time and security constraints, work–in-progress, stage and technique examples are provided, with first hand commentary.
Personal presentation, whenever possible, of the generators, process and the finished work is the prime objective and the key to continuing visitor relationships.
