StatementKaren's work has grown out of both her background in archaeology and her study of Victorian ragwork traditions. She attempts to recapture some of the value once associated with even the smallest fragments of everyday fabrics, with their enduring memories of usage and love. She uses traditional and non-traditional techniques and materials to create conceptual pieces celebrating the beauty of wear and the mysterious protective powers conveyed by worn clothing shaped to the human body.
