StatementJanet's work is a personal record of journeys she makes across the landscape recording not only the places she encounters but also the birds and plants. Currently working in hand-dyed calico and stitch, she constructs work using colours dyed especially for each piece. She uses embroidery as drawing as well as to create surface texture. She is interested in maps and symbols and often works from memory or rapid sketches. Folk art and the naïve painters influence her approach.
