He is particularly interested in abstracting letterforms and rhythmic pattern derived from inscriptional and text-related material, along with designing work that has a functional nature. A long collaboration with Ian Hamilton Finlay has produced a series of international commissions in both the public and private realms. A recently completed NESTA Fellowship has nurtured cross-disciplinary working and enabled the realisation of new work in a variety of media.
