StatementSue Slocombe enjoys investigating the effects of nature reclaiming control over man's interference and artefacts. As a biologist she researched the effects of insects and growth hormones on woody tissue. A keen experimental gardener, combining free plant growth with trompe l'oeil, she tries to introduce suggestions of these textures into her art. A recent visit to the troglodyte caves in south Tunisia has inspired her current work, experimenting with textures and their ability to indicate temperature.
