StatementOriginally a painter, Rachel Welford designs and makes glass for architectural settings, usually working to commission on private or public art projects. Her work explores the innate qualities of glass and light - the transparency and reflectivity of glass and the changing nature of natural light. Sandblasted glass and mirror are layered to create subtle panels or windows with imagery often based on tree silhouettes or birds in flight. Rachel also combines glass with film and makes light-boxes for interiors.
