StatementSteph Black's pots are thrown and fired in an oxidised atmosphere from 1080ºC-1220ºC using both earthenware and stoneware clays. Inspiration comes from a fascination for eroded surfaces, their textures, layers and restrained colours and her choice of the vessel being the primary form only helps to complement them. She now exhibits widely, and has been selected for many major ceramic fairs, eg Earth and Fire, Rufford; Art in Clay, Hatfield and Farnham; Clayart, Wales and Potfest in the Park, Cumbria.
